The Link Coffee Shop & Southerden Books:  celebrated their twenty fifth anniversary on Tuesday 1st October.  In order to further mark this event, there will be a service of celebration and recommissioning on Sunday 17th November at Hailsham Parish Church commencing at 3pm, followed by refreshments in the Church Lounge.  Everyone is warmly invited and we look forward to welcoming all volunteers and regular customers, past and present.

St Wilfrid’s Harvest Festival:  The theme this year was the “Destruction of our Planet by Us”.  Our usual magnificent display around the altar spread even further to include a “Bee Keepers Outfit”, advertising the fact that our Bee Keeper – Peter, would be in the hall to demonstrate how important the Bees are to our planet.  Fr Kieran thought this was an excellent idea, and joined us in the hall after Mass.  The children aided by Jerry, sold the fresh fruit and veg outside the church.  The total amount raised was £110.46 which included a donation from one of the housebound and the Oct takings from the sales table.  This will go to CAFOD to purchase a gift to help our friends in the 3rd World Countries.  Well done and a big thank you to everyone who helped and contributed to this event.

Beetle Drive at St Wilfrid’s:  had a very good turnout and raised a total of £212. for the church funds.  Thank you.

Bereavement Mass at St Wilfrid’s Church:  Sunday 10th November at 3pm.  All welcome to attend.

St Wilfrid’s Sales Table: In the hall after Masses.  The takings for the whole of October will be given towards our Third World Project.  Teas/coffees, cakes and biscuits are also available every week in the hall after Sunday and Wednesday Masses.

St Wilfrid’s Harvest Festival:  Sunday 27th October .  There is a box in the porch to receive your gifts of tins & packets to go to the Hailsham Food Bank please.  The perishable fruits & veg on display under the altar will be taken after Mass and sold to all of us by the children.  Please be generous as we would like to select a gift for the Third World Countries through CAFOD World Aid.  Thank you.

We are also very fortunate to have a “Bee Keeper” in our midst – Peter, who has kindly offered to give us some thoughts as to why the humble bee is so important to our world.  As you enter the Hall you will be given a Free Raffle Ticket.  After the talk, if your number comes up you can choose from a variety of prizes to do with the Bee Theme, Good Luck!

St Wilfrid’s First Holy Communion – The children’s first class was attended by all 12 of our candidates together with their parents and siblings.   Please remember our First Communion children in your prayers.  Annette, Theresa and Sophie.

St Wilfrid’s Feast Day:  Celebrated on Sunday 13th October.  A jolly time was had by all.  After Mass cakes and nibbles were devoured and vanished quite quickly.  It was lovely to see so many new parishioners joining in with us.  One of the new dads celebrated his Birthday.

St Wilfrid’s Beetle Drive – Friday 25th October – 7pm:  This will take place in St Wilfrid’s Church Hall.  Tickets £5 per person,  children go free.  Raffle prizes, please donate and mark for raffle, these can be left in the hall or church porch.  Thank you.
