Hailsham Foodbank:  Are looking for volunteers to assist at the Easter Holiday Shack.  Wed 8th April – Children’s Centre, Vega Close, Town Farm, Hailsham and Wed 15th April – The Diplock’s Hall, Diplock’s Estate, Hailsham.  In order to run these event we need to have your support in volunteering time, if you can assist between 11am-1.30pm on either or both dates we would be grateful.  Contact 01323 398358 or [email protected] for more information.  Thank you.

Lenten Lunches at St. George’s Church  – each Thursday throughout Lent delicious soups, bread and butter are being served in the Hall after 11.30 Mass. Menus are available on the preceding  Sundays. There is no charge, but  you will be  asked to make a donation to the charity chosen that day. On the 5th March we raised money for CAFOD and Children with Cancer.  If you have a favourite registered charity you would like us to support, please contact Margaret 870 990.

Coronavirus Update:  To reduce the possibility of infection St George’s Church has installed a hand sanitiser in the church porch.  Please use this as you enter the church.   Unfortunately, at present hand sanitiser seems to be in short supply, so we advise parishioners to use their own hand gel, if they have any, (it should be at least 60% alcohol content to be effective) before and after Mass.  As soon as stock comes in, St Wilfrid’s will also be installing a hand sanitiser in the church porch.  Also, in light of the current advice, please take note that if you have returned recently from countries or parts of countries where the virus has been found you are advised not to attend church services and self-isolate for at least 14 days.  Thank you for your co-operation. before entering the church.  Thank you

An Idea for Lent:   Why not try to attend a weekday Mass?

St Wilfrid’s on a Wednesday 10am & Rosary at 9.30am, Tea & Coffee after in the Hall.

St George’s on a Thursday 11.30am.   Lenten Lunches at 12.00pm after the 11.30am Mass on each Thursday during Lent, except this Thursday 5th March, 1st Thursday will be at 11.00am beginning with Adoration and Benediction and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Confession. Also, our very moving Reconciliation Service on Tuesday 31st March at 6pm in St Wilfrid’s Church.

St Patrick’s Day Lunch:  Tuesday 17th March.  We are going to the Treacle Mine to celebrate at lunch time, 12noon.  Vouchers available to cut cost.  If you would like to join us, there is a list in the church porch for your name and telephone number please or contact Joan on 849732.  Don’t delay as we have to book several large tables asap.   Of course our friends at St George’s are very welcome to join us.  Lets make it a jolly gathering.

St Wilfrid’s First Holy Communion:  Please join us at St Wilfrid’s to support our 13 First Holy Communion Candidates as they receive their First Holy Communion on Sunday 24th May.  All are welcome.

St Wilfrid’s Penitential Service:  is on Tuesday 31st March at 6pm.  Please come and support our 13 First Communion Candidates as they take their First Confession.

APF Mission Box Holders:  could you please bring in your boxes within the next two weeks for counting.  Your promoter can also visit you at home to collect the box if you prefer.  In the year 2019 the Mission Boxes generated £968.91.  Another splendid result!  Thank you all for your generous support.  (Doris Jung your local APF Secretary).

Revised Film Club Notice:  St George’s Film club next films will be: Sunday 15th March, (2011) Documentary about the master sushi chef Jior Ono.  29th March (2010) Japanese animation about a family of tiny creatures. 12th April (2009) A famous pop star finds a new meaning of life in a rural setting. All films start at 3 pm.
