CAFOD – World Gifts this Christmas:  We usually collect money and choose our “gifts to give to the needy in our world today”. Last year we picked chirpy chickens, many more items have been added this year.  Collecting box in church porch and hall.

Our first coach trip to Headcorn in Kent.  There was only 10 of us in the end including Fr Rory.  Everyone voted it was a “Great Day Out”.  The driver took us on the pretty scenic route, where we saw fields turned into lakes!  We encountered great service at the coffee lounge and village tea rooms, all enjoyed the homemade food and wondered in & out of the shops.  Sophie also managed to join us for lunch.  I think we will wait until Spring for our next outing!!  Our next Afternoon tea will be Thurs 24th Nov at 2pm.  Our theme will be “getting ready for Christmas”.  All the usual food, quiz, sales table etc.  Our Dec tea will be Thurs 29th Dec at 2pm, will celebrate the New Year and have a party.  Please do come along and join us.

A series of online talks for young adults (18-35) The series continues with a session on ‘Everyday Discernment’ where we will discover ways to live according to God’s will in our day to day decisions and actions. “Enough Said”

As we draw even closer to the end of the church’s year and with it; The Great Feast of Christ Our King when all our attention is on “His coming again in Great Glory”.  Appropriately our focus this Sunday is on Remembrance Sunday, when we remember all those who shared in His experience of the shame of the Cross of Christ.  In every age so many lose their lives to what must be the mystery of the cross.        

Any new/nearly new items will be greatly appreciated for our sales table.

We need two people to join the refreshment team at St George’s to serve tea/coffee after mass one Sunday a month.  It is an enjoyable volunteering role which is much needed to support the current team. 

St Wilfrid’s Hospice & St George’s are having a Lights of Love Service at St George’s Church on Monday 12th December at 7pm.  There will be refreshments afterwards in the church hall.  Do please come to this wonderfully moving service.
